Companies can no longer rely on basic antivirus solutions alone

At GITEX 2020 (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) yesterday, Trend Micro shared H1 2020 statistics that it had seen around its cloud security. The attacks continue to probe for weak points, with obvious targets including employee’s security awareness, endpoints, networks, and critical infrastructure.

Amongst the statistics were some eye watering numbers. They detected:

  • 41,236,550 email threats
  • 13,181,016 URL victims
  • 61,314 URL hosted attacks
  • 2,392,097 malware detections
  • 2,294 banking malware detections

The numbers demonstrate the continued rise in malware attacks, as seen over the last few years.

With the increasing number of cybersecurity threats, companies can no longer rely on basic antivirus solutions alone. To protect business, the new standard must include proactive endpoint detection and response, threat hunting and Artificial Intelligence to search out known and unknown malware.

Cyber security is an ongoing fight against unknown actors. With more state backing, these attacks are becoming increasingly well-funded, driving more and more complexity and potential damage. With Cyber Security talent becoming harder to find, and in-house teams becoming stretched. Contact Fundamentals First about how our outsourced Cyber Security solutions will operate as an extension to your in-house teams, providing the increased protection you require.
